Heading Over The Edge to Beechworth

Email This Post Email This Post | 3 Comments

Just a quick post…

I’m heading to Ed Dale and Dan Raine’s “Over The Edge” 2008 Seminar in Beechworth.

It’s going to be an interesting few days. The guys have become masters of “quick-hit SEO”.

Invariably, the strategies that they talk about at these events are the strategies that will be released as the “cutting-edge” strategies in 3 months time… So I’m not sure what I’ll discover… but I’m sure going to be bringing my notepad and system cards.

Sounds very interesting. What do you consider “quick-hit SEO”?

I’ve been trying to transition from selling physical products to setting up some affiliate / adsense sites. I’ve created 10 sites with the idea of testing some different techniques to determine what works.

Is it possible to setup 10 - 12 page sites that can achieve good search rankings if you pick your keywords carefully?

It’s been a pretty frustrating process so far. I’m really spread to thin trying to work on 10 sites at once. I’ve finally decided to focus on one site that has the most potential. I’ve been driving PPC traffic to each of these so at least I know which ones convert.

    Have a good day.

    Hi Brent,

“Quick hit SEO” is (for example) Squidoo spam - exploiting a technique or market imbalance to achieve fast rankings…

The problem is (as I wrote about in my Three Little Pigs Internet Marketing article) is it’s a short-term market imbalance.. and pretty soon, it’s corrected and you lose that “quick hit”.

For SEO - The guys who are doing the testing have a very specific silo strategy - focusing on low level keywords and working up to broad keywords. They’re also looking at synonymous relationships between words…

I don’t know how you’re able to do 10 sites at once! Even working full time!!

Personally, I’d be reverse-engineering instead… gathering enough Google data to work out what factors affect SERPs… This sounds easier to me.

Drop me an email and we can Skype if you like.

    Hi Brent,

I don’t guess I am really doing 10 sites at once. I think they are doing me!

You haven’t always had your pic on the top right have you? If so, I have never noticed it. Your a young guy……amazing the pics we paint in our mind of people we talk to but have never actually seen. My mental image of you has always been Sean Connery! :) Go figure.

I’ll send you an email now.

    Have a good day.
